• Usesiderailcoversandgapprotectorstohelppreventthe
patient’sbodyfromgoingunder,around,throughorbetweenthe
siderails.Afailuretodosomayresultinseriousinjuryordeathif
apatientbecomessuspendedorentrapped.Poseyoersafull
rangeofsiderailpadsand/orgapprotectorstocovergaps.
• ereisariskofchestcompressionorsuocationifthe
patient’sbodyweightissuspendedothemattressorchair
seat.Useextremecautionwithchaircushions.Ifacushion
dislodges,strapsmayloosenandallowthepatienttoslideo
theseat(gs.4,5,and6).
• Monitorperfacilitypolicytoensurethatthepatientcannot
slidedown,orfallothechairseatormattressandbecome
suspendedorentrapped(gs.4,5,and6).
• STOPUSEATONCE:ifthepatienthasatendencytoslide
forwardordowninthedevice;orisabletoself-release.
• Monitorskinconditionsinthegroinareafrequently.Ifthepatient
slidesdownorforward,pelvicstrapsmaydamagetheskin.
1.
Place the device on over the patient’s head with
thepelvicpiecehangingdowntheback(g.1).
2.
Bring the pelvic piece up between the patient’s
legs and pull toward the front.
3.
Taketheendsoftheconnectingstrapsand
thread them through the vertical slot in the
middle of the pelvic piece.
4.
Separatethestraps,takingonetotherightand
the other to the left, and thread through the
loops that connect the top vest portion and the
pelvic piece.
5.
Secure straps to the wheelchair or bed frame,
out of the patient’s reach (See below).
6.
Slide an open hand (flat) between the device and the patient to ensure
proper fit. e device must be snug, but not interfere with breathing.
